Our ‘Inferiors’

How we treat those around us says more than our possessions

Our true value is never in wealth or possessions it is seen by how we treat those around us.

Not just those who exist in our family units but also on the streets, in our supermarkets and workspaces. Those who could be, in society’s terms, beneath us.

Our true value is held in how we treat our ‘inferiors’ as with privilege comes reward. Reward in the sense that we can quickly and easily navigate the systems surrounding us.

Re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire recently I was struck by one line in particular, if you want to know a man then look at how he treats his inferiors. It got me thinking as to how true this is.

Now I do not believe that I treat anyone who is considered below me in an inferior or condescending manner but that might not be true in the grand scheme of things…

Maybe some people do consider me rude and they would be well within their rights to do so as we are all human beings.

We are all entitled to our opinions but if I am mindful of this consideration then surely I do not treat people badly?

I may say things out of context and off the cuff but that doesn’t make me rude and it certainly does not mean I look down on…
